The Union Square Awards issued Renewal grants for the first time in 2009. Responding to grantees' needs during the economic downturn, the program ensures that critical community work is supported. Eligible grantees that have successfully completed their grant term receive information and guidelines by mail.

2011 Social Justice Renewal Grantees

Amethyst Women’s Project: To continue support for AWP's community education workshop series and women's health & healing retreat.

Centro Hispano Cuzcatlan: To sustain CHC's economic justice program for immigrant workers.

CHANGER: To continue support to CHANGER’s homeowners' membership network and consumer financial education program.

FUREE: To continue support to FUREE’s Downtown Brooklyn Accountable Development Campaign.

La Union: To continue support for La Union’s Parent Organizing Collaborative.

SMART: To continue support to the SMART University programs and advocacy trainings.

Vamos Unidos: To continue support for VU's street vendors' economic justice campaign and leadership development program.
